BASF ® Little chemists landed at the China Science and Technology Museum, opening up a new impression of children on sustainable development

The annual "BASF" ®  "Little Chemist" officially opened its activities in Chinese Mainland at the China Science and Technology Museum. This summer, BASF ®  The Little Chemist Event will land in five cities in Chinese Mainland, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chongqing and Zhanjiang. Beijing railway station is the first stop of this tour.
BASF has long been committed to promoting popular science education for children in China. This year's BASF Little Chemist Activity will bring two interesting interactive experiments around the theme of "green printing" and "climate protection", aiming to guide children to explore the chemical mysteries in daily life and lead them to focus on the important topic of sustainable development.
At today's launch ceremony, BASF also announced that it would donate 300 popular science picture books "Cooling the Earth - Being a Low Carbon People" to the China Science and Technology Museum, which would be used for popular science education activities of the China Science and Technology Museum.
Dr. Han Wei, vice president of BASF and head of the Shanghai Innovation Park, said: "BASF believes that chemical innovation contributes to the sustainable development of the future, but also needs the efforts of every generation. Children are future participants and practitioners. BASF ®  The Little Chemist activity allows children to experience the unique charm of chemistry and further stimulate curiosity, imagination, and exploration through hands-on experiments. This is of great benefit to the growth of children and the protection of the earth
Qi Xin, director of the Exhibition and Education Center of the China Science and Technology Museum, said, "For more than 20 years, BASF ®  Little chemists have always been a popular science education project loved by parents and children. We and BASF will continue to work together in this summer vacation to popularize scientific knowledge and cultivate the spirit of inquiry learning for children, facing the vast number of children, with hands-on experiments close to social hot spots as the carrier. In the future, we look forward to continuing to cooperate with BASF to carry out more and more innovative science popularization education activities. "
In 2002, BASF introduced the Little Chemist Activity into China to help China's science popularization for children. As of the end of 2022, over 200000 children have participated. During this period, BASF also recruited and trained thousands of volunteer teachers, many of whom participated in BASF as children ®  Little Chemist Activity. This year, more than 50 college students from Peking University, Zhejiang University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Ningbo University, Southwest University and other well-known universities will become on-site volunteer teachers to guide children to complete the experiment.
