BASF launches a new antioxidant solution, Irgastab ® PUR 7

Irgastab, a high-quality, compliant, and high-performance innovative anti coking solution launched by BASF ®  PUR 71 does not contain aromatic amines, effectively addressing the limitations of traditional anti coking additives. With its excellent environmental, health, and safety performance, this solution can also meet the increasingly stringent substance classification and sustainable regulatory requirements in the industry.
"Irgastab PUR 71 once again confirms BASF's commitment to innovation and industry collaboration: to provide sustainable alternatives to traditional solutions for our customers, enabling them to gain a prominent competitive advantage in the rapidly changing global market," said Dr. Bettina Sobotka, Head of Global Marketing and Development for BASF Plastic Additives, "Thanks to our remarkable achievements in the additive field and our global team of experts dedicated to the development of the automotive and furniture industries, we have been exploring innovation and striving to develop cutting-edge technologies and solutions that not only improve performance but also promote sustainable development."
In the production process of polyurethane foam, if the polyol as the main raw material cannot be kept stable, the heat generated in the production process will lead to discoloration of polyurethane foam, decline of mechanical properties, and even fire. Although these issues can also be solved by using phenolic antioxidants and aromatic amine stabilizers in traditional anti coking additives, these two have some obvious drawbacks, such as strong odor, toxicity issues, or high volatility.
BASF's new anti scorching additive can greatly reduce the oxidative degradation caused by exothermic reaction during the processing of polyurethane foam. In addition, Irgastab PUR 71 does not add aromatic amine, which can effectively reduce emissions, reduce potential hazards to human beings and aquatic organisms, and thus greatly reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) and fogging value (FOG) released from polyurethane foam. Based on these characteristics, the air quality inside the car can be greatly improved, creating a competitive advantage for car manufacturers.
Irgastab PUR 71 can provide targeted application advantages for various industries. It meets the strictest automotive industry standards, can reduce emissions, and improve indoor air quality. In the furniture industry, it can provide polyol and polyurethane foam manufacturers with excellent anti scorching performance to prevent thermal degradation during foaming. In addition, it does not contain carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxic substances (CMR), which is beneficial for polyol producers to obtain environmental voluntary certification. For consumer goods, it can improve whiteness, prevent color changes caused by fumigation yellowing and photochromism, and thus improve product quality.
Irgastab PUR 71 is BASF VALERAS ®  New members of the product portfolio, along with other VALERAS ®  Like its series of products, BASF leverages innovative solutions from its plastic additive business to enhance the sustainability of polymers throughout the entire polymer value chain.
